Clothes I want to wear in 2024

A while back, I wrote an article about the pants I want. Stupid premise? perhaps. But it was a fun way for me to explore my intentions when expanding my wardrobe. Now that I continue to spend a lot of time thrifting, I don’t always buy exactly what I want. Sometimes your wardrobe is built through serendipity, when you find something you never knew you wanted, but use this article as a guide. I was able to get most of the pants I wanted.

So, here are some clothes, shoes, and accessories that I hope to find next year. I will write and think about why I actually want these things. Maybe some of my reasoning will resonate with you. I hope

I’m not going to get everything on this list. You really shouldn’t, it’s a long list. But I think this will be good practice for navigating my next move.

I’m going to warn you now, I’m going to specify a few things. Selection subjects A gap in my wardrobe. Please don’t judge me. start big

section:

High-quality bespoke single-breasted navy suit

So… yeah, Selection subjects gap.

My first custom suit was a charcoal SB. It’s fine for a business suit, but the cut is actually…not great. It’s definitely a typical slim MTM cut with black lapels. That’s fine for most people…but I wanted to be particular and get something. good Made in navy, good and made to a higher standard. A kind of ideal.

Since then, I’ve had CustomMen suits made for me. I saved up a navy DB from Canali. This is fine. It might take me a year to make the SB, but it’s a 6×1 with a strangely cut belly and it really doesn’t satisfy me. A desire for a more classic suit. I have a total of 6 suits, not including the South2West8 suit.

So…what I want is perfection Navy suit. I’ve seen dozens of seamstresses who can cut great jackets, but only a handful who can cut bad pants. method Too thin for my taste. I’m thinking about The Anthology, I Sarti Italiani, Taillor, K-Zao…

I’m pretty much into anthologies. I started to think it was ridiculous to spend tens of thousands of yen on clothes that I wear several times a year. After all, this is my hobby and I have money for it. I want a navy suit that I really like. And I want the experience of buying and owning a custom suit from a brand I truly appreciate.

tuxedo

One more thing bright omission. I have a nice ivory dinner jacket, but if I have to go to a proper black tie event tonight…I’ll have to buy something last minute and I’ll end up looking like crap.

I need a tuxedo made, but the biggest problem is that I’m not going to audition for a seamstress to have my tuxedo made. That would be foolish. First, you’ll need a tailor, even a reputable one, to make something else for you.

I have an even narrower view of tuxedos. I’d like a vaguely Sexton-like or Husband-like flared leg SB (I have one special non-Dinner jacket, I’ll refer to the tailor I go with)… or a DB with one button. It’s either a shawl. But…let’s just say I’m still working on my shawl lapel inspiration album.

Realistically, we won’t see New Year’s Eve in 2025. or In 2026, wear one of your dream tuxedos. Navy suits will be available by 2025 and tuxedos by 2026.

In the meantime, I’m also trying to save on tuxedos to fill that gap, but I haven’t found anything close to my size that I like yet. My ivory jacket at least helps with the black tie option for work, but it’s not enough…but I’m picky and don’t want to settle for something I don’t like just because I need it.

Some beater sports jackets

This is a paradoxical category. I need two sports jackets that are good enough to wear, but not as good as I would want them to be for my baby. I want linen clothes and soft tweed clothes, or soft corduroy clothes, and I want to wear them every other day. with patch pockets useReally use. These are the things I keep in my outerwear closet and wear randomly. Maybe you keep it on a coat rack or other inappropriate place.

However, finding this one is not as easy as a good sports jacket. I’m picky. It should have loose fabric and a relaxed fit. And jackets with patch pockets are strangely difficult to recycle (without it Thanks flap, I’m going to do that using These pockets) are great, especially if you need a shorter length.

You may be able to buy this on sale from brands at the mall. Todd Snyder and J.Crew. Maybe Suit Supply Rome, but it looks like their pockets are all jetted out right now. I think they read my blog.

shirt

more blue shirts

I have a nice blue dress shirt, my favorite herringbone button down, some navy linen shirts, and a great denim western.

But again, I’m missing some basic things. Solid blue OCBD, blue university stripe OCBD, chambray shirt. I don’t need all of them right away, but I feel like I need one of them. I might go to some manufacturer to buy chambray shirts, I might recycle OCBD, I might go to Jake’s…we’ll see what happens.

tuxedo shirt

Once you buy a tuxedo, you need a shirt to go with it, but this isn’t rocket science. There are still some questions left in my mind. Does it have pleats in the front? Wing color? Covered placket or stud? Not sure yet.

pants

As a quick summary of my desired pants article, I wanted off-white jeans, board pants, big linens, something funky, and a good flare. Apart from Bode pants, we have covered all these categories, but in two cases we want to know more.

off white pants

Simply put, I wanted a pair of slim off-white jeans. I received some. I had no interest in them.

My plan is clear. I’m probably going to buy 3Sixteen straight or relaxed straight ecru jeans. The latter hasn’t been made yet…we get it. I’m going to try on a regular straight. I’ll try something.

larger linen

I also bought a linen Polo Ralph Lauren Andrews. these are wonderful and Very easy to find on eBay. (Andrew = double forward pleats, Hammond = double reverse pleats, the others are irrelevant).

However, I only have one pair so I’m afraid to wash them, and I want to wear them all the time, so dry cleaning isn’t practical. So by the time summer rolls around, I’ll be wearing a bunch of big linen pants and constantly hearing people say they’re ok to wash.

Other big chino pants

I like the big khaki RRL officer chinos. And I like flared Gucci chinos. And I tried on J.Crew’s Giant Fit chinos and Todd Snyder Relaxed Fit chinos, and I loved them too. Plus, I’m interested in more interesting options, like the big navy chino pants from Studio Nicholson. Or maybe you buy off-white jeans instead of the off-white jeans you wanted for whatever reason. Or black, dark brown, or…well, I want something that I can wear with sneakers, but I’ll talk about sneakers below.

purple code

I don’t understand. Maybe it’s the brown code. Maybe cream code. I already have purple jeans. I don’t need more purple in my wardrobe. But… there’s something about purple cord… Corduroy really shows off the color. You might get a PRL Andrew code.

knit

mohair cardigan

I maybe Buy one of these in the current sale at Mister Porter or Nepenthes…maybe. I keep an eye out for things that are beautiful but not particularly wearable…I might just keep an eye out until I find the perfect option that’s at least a little unique and at least a little wearable.

Textured knitwear in general

I talked about textured knitwear on Instagram, so in case you missed it, here it is. Since then, I’ve bought a boucle knit, and I also want a mohair one…there are so many options. But I want more.

Specifically, I think I could use a pink Shetland, but most of the common options don’t work for me. And I want a really nice off-white Aran sweater. I wouldn’t be upset if I wore four more shawl collar cardigans.

Another knit t-shirt

I love the Anthology knit t-shirt. Perfect for those summer days when you don’t feel like buttoning it up but want to do something. I’ve found that if I tuck it into the right pair of pants, it layers better and looks even more beautiful.

But I can’t say buying another one is a priority at this point. It’s still expensive. I may or may not buy it. I don’t know what color I want next, maybe espresso? Maybe I’ll buy one from another brand to mix things up. Chet knits from the Scott Fraser Collection are even more expensive, but still cool and unique. Probably a cotton crewneck from Spier and Mackay. I’m not sure how good this actually is.

Another turtleneck.

Maybe Alan, maybe something you can layer. I enjoy a burgundy turtleneck, but I can’t seem to pair it with everything I want to pair it with.

outer

Raincoat perfect for summer

It sometimes rains in summer. You need a practical option that covers your body and head and doesn’t overheat. I might buy one of Barbour’s jackets and removable hoods. Or you might accept that a decent lightweight rain jacket doesn’t look as good or breathe very well.

winter hoodie

Probably made by Frism Works. We have a huge selection of great outerwear. However, I have specific needs that go beyond decent aesthetics. The handwarmer pockets are in a practical position and angle, the sleeves are short enough to not swallow your arms, they’re waterproof and snowproof, and they’re warm enough to get you through the New York winter. without worry and of coursehood. How on earth can they survive in the snow and cold rain without a hood? Why make a weatherproof jacket without a hood? Who does it serve?

…Yes, I think I’ll buy the N3-B hoodie. If the pockets work well, a Kara Koram type hoodie is also a good option. Or this one by Todd Snyder, which checks all the boxes but seems a little plain considering the price…but then again, this is the best I’ve ever had for a practical piece like this. Not what you’re looking for? Plain, versatile, and easy to wear on snowy, rainy days, or when it’s too cold to wear an overcoat. P.S: I just realized that Todd Snyder’s stuff isn’t actually all that waterproof. I’m sorry, but that would have been it.

Carefully crafted winter boots

I needed boots for a while. But after making some picks, I realized I needed more sneakers. Even if you have posture issues, you need comfortable shoes that you can actually wear and stand all day long. I could hardly wear my Melmin loafers anymore, and if I stood in them for too long, they would hurt the next day.

And that problem further paralyzed my decision-making. What was I going to do with spending over $400 on a pair of boots that I was still afraid to wear even after breaking them in?I decided to throw me a curveball. Instead of buying something flashy and expensive that /r/goodyearwelt told me was really, really good because of the fudge wheels, I’d buy something that doesn’t even pretend to be that kind of shoe in the first place.

So I said “fuck it” and bought myself a pair of ALD x New Balance Rainiers. It’s sort of inspired by Timberland, but in a funky colorway like you’d expect from Teddy Santis. I like them.

But now I wear dress shoes a little more. My Duane (made by Armory) and Alden are much more comfortable. Maybe Meermins just aren’t that good. Or maybe the problem was that I was standing in Meermins all day. Or maybe my exercise habits solved the problem. Either way, I have a newfound confidence in my body and my “well-made” shoes.

I think I’ll go to Viberg’s sample sale. Maybe I’ll buy something from the Stitchdown guys at Alfargo in the future. I’d probably choose Grant Stone or something. Maybe I’ll fall on my butt for the Galway pair. who knows?

Color 8 Shell Alden Tassel Loafers

I mean, does this need any explanation? Actually, I bought one this year, but the width is too narrow, so if you have 7.5A, please DM me.

disappeared sneakers

I’m currently in love with my favorite sneakers, the olive New Balance 990s. This is also a Teddy Santis color. However, I am left with something missing. In particular, I want something that goes well with pants that don’t go well with my existing sneakers. I’m not a fan of these 990s with khaki or tan cords or with off-white pants. Or…well, there were some other exceptional cases. I’ve been filling that void with loafers, but like I said, you need comfortable shoes. I want something I can wear all day.

Chunky, comfy, a little tan, a little pinkish, not too bright, not too boring, versatile for what you need it to be, and then some… The biggest problem is the list price for sneakers. I don’t want to be the guy who pays more than that.

So I’m waiting for the next thing to appear on my radar. I’ve seen a few other people who seem okay.

There is no greater bond than this

i will do it do not have We need more bonding. I have a lot of good ties…I have about three nice yellow ties and I don’t want to throw any of them away, but I should, I really should. Why do I have so many yellow ties?

I do To complete my collection, I need grenadine and a seven-fold tie. And when you buy a tuxedo, you always need a bow tie from La Boutique…

But…actually, I can’t justify buying a longer tie.

Another funky scarf

I love scarves. You know that, right? But once again, I noticed some gaps in colors, patterns, and textures in my wardrobe. Besides the solid colors, there are interesting winter scarves in orange and pink, and summer scarves in navy and green…but not everything I really want is left. I still can’t go full Stefon and just wear a nice scarf with every outfit. I can tolerate a little mixing.

new kind of hat

I have a lot of caps that I like, a few toque hats that I like, and a bucket hat that I don’t hate. Maybe you need a better bucket hat with just the right amount of looseness. I’ve never worn a beret, but Bode’s berets are kind of cool, so you might want to go to Bode and try on a beret. I just want to mix and match hats.

Jewelry with more meaning

I love my father’s chai necklace. Grandma bought two. One was given to my father and the other to my uncle. Now my cousin and I own it. They look a little goofy, but that’s not the point.

I don’t know how I’ll ever find men’s jewelry that has a story worth telling, but I’m sure I could use more of it. I wish there was something I could do without having to say “stupid.”

But hey, rat, you’re not in your driveway.
Proving foresight may be futile.
The careful planning of mice and humans
The gang is angry
All we have is sadness and pain,
For the joy promised!

I’m not going to stick too closely to any plan. The above are not guaranteed, even for navy suits. But through this rambling experience, I gave myself direction. You may follow many of these notes. Maybe you can find another path. I will continue to go to Alfargo’s and buy things there that I didn’t know I wanted.

But either way, this was a useful exercise. I hope this article gives you something to think about and think about what to buy next. If you would like to put your intentions in writing, feel free to leave a comment. Check back in a year or so to see how the plan worked. It’s possible.

Afterword

I forgot many of what i want many From this list. I want an overcoat with a belt. I want a cardigan with a belt, maybe RRL’s hand knit. I want a black calf Alden tassel. I want Weiss’ pearl snap tencel shirt. I want a Dries Van Noten suit with a belt. I want loafers made in Belgium. And we need better black belts.

The point is…this list could be much longer, so I’ll buy anything that’s not on the list.

We will be happy to hear your thoughts
