I asked 8 people how they like to accessorize for the summer
It’s difficult to wear clothes when it gets hot. It’s hard to stack (some people get very angry when I suggest that). You have a small selection of comfortable fabrics that work, and you’re missing out on some of your favorite fabrics in men’s wear: drape flannel. Deep, complicated tweed; heavy denim sharting; Shetland wool.
But regardless of the fever, you can always return This one strange trick:accessories. And I always think how good I am, they are, but I think it’s better to get a variety of perspectives.
So I asked some of my peers. Let’s take a look at what they said.
Elias was one of the first people I asked. He is always decorated with watches, rings and necklaces…but here it is: he does it all year round. So when I asked about Summer he gave me some amazing answers.
He started by explaining his basic summer style, his overall approach. He loves to wear colours in the summer. He talks about his “Caribbean glow.” all He looks best in the summer. He wears linen and cotton, relaxed tailoring, Terry Cloth Polos…
So how does he accessorize on that base? Of course, hats and occasional neckerchiefs don’t like when they compete with his jewels. The hat will inform his hairstyle in turn. He switches to braiding in the summer. This is because there is room for hats due to low maintenance. That’s how it all comes together.
He also skips socks from June to September. I remember in case he tried to sell me some shoes…
We all know that Denny likes to wear a Stetson hat, but when I asked, he felt the urge to emphasize a vintage brooch. Before they had a moment on the Met Gala carpet, I was looking for something great, so it sparked something inside me.
Unfortunately, when I asked him to take a picture of him wearing a brooch, he sent me a picture of his wife. Hmm, he’s in love so much, that’s a bit annoying.
Again, Wes began by explaining his general approach to summer. “I run hot, so being comfortable is my priority.” So he said, “I use a bigger silhouette and a more interesting shirt. Not just the stripes mentioned above, but also the guayabelle.
His go-to pieces are Jack Marie Mage, Vintage Ring, and Vintage Seiko Watch sunglasses “I haven’t fixed it yet.” You’ll ultimately do that, Wes. Until then, I’ll have a phone call.
He also has two hats. One is a nylon hat in collaboration with 47 Blackstock & Weber brands and a vintage Yankees hat with American needles.
I asked him if he was really a Yankee fan. He said, “via my grandmother.
Simon gave Very specific Answer: He loves bright orange socks. He wears them with beat-up suede loafers, or a pair above. They are surprisingly versatile in terms of color and act as a distinctive touch.
He gets them mostly from the front general (they have three different coloured orange socks). I have never tried them personally, but I will add an American trench to my list of recommendations. And obviously, you don’t need to choose oranges to get similar effects. You need to get a new purple sock…
As an added bonus, Simon also loves a buttonless shirt that shows off her cool necklace. So too; one of the nice little perks of summer.
Jiang is not a minimalist. He wears bold sunglasses and a funky mule. But when I reached out to him he said he was most excited to wear these Kapital bandanas. Of course, you can wear it in dozens of ways, surrounded by your head around your neck and hanging from your pocket, but here he just chose to bundle it up into a square in your pocket. Yellow yellow against a yellow western shirt, a little black black against a black canvas sneaker… This is a fun way to dress down a suit. Good thing, J.
When I first asked Haran for his insight, he gave a rambling reaction of self-consciousness, only about the simplicity of having one watch and the sunglasses from a Warby Parker… exactly what kind of hat did he wear…
I had to remember him that he had some too Dope Asscarf.
He finds himself “gorgeous” in some of his items, including knitwear and footwear, but he didn’t think much about his accessories as well.
The nuts like dressing up and have a fairly high heat resistance. He only loses his tie at about 90°F. “But it’s completely open,” he says. So what is he using to fill that space? “A colorful silk or linen necklace, or a necklace to keep things intentional.” He clearly enjoys the necker chief. Most of them come from Maximilian Mogg. They still have two styles!
“This is an easy way to avoid looking like one of the financial types that tries to pass Tielessness as a rebellion.” Amen – The innovation element of business formal is not something that makes perfect business casual, but imperfect business formal.
…I think it’s interesting, so I’m heading behind the paywall.
